Its name is: "Virtual architectural heritage"

You are invited to send me articles about virtual architecture to publish there. please send to: mario.gerosa@fastwebnet.it

Naturally, "Played in Italy", this blog, continues to stay here, liveliest than ever!

Profession: net reporter

The next meeting of the European Kuurian Expeditions (the scientific expeditions with famous people living in vr) in Second Life will be on Monday, the 2nd of October, with Marco Manray/Marco Cadioli, who works as a net reporter in many virtual worlds. During the meeting, Marco Cadioli will present a slideshow of photos he took in different synthetic worlds. In 2005 he published "ARENAEe a reportage from the war on line, shooting photos as an "embedded" reporter in Quake III, Enemy Territory and Counter Strike. In 2006 he started "My First Second Life - marco manray reporter in SL”. The meeting will be on Monday, the 2nd of October at noon SL time in front of the bar “Sempre amici”, in piazza Navona, in Parioli (Parioli, 126,128,40).

Here what he says in his site: As an in-world free lance I make photo-reportage from Second Life, the 3D world completly constructed by his residents. This is my First Second Life, where I am Marco Manray, a net reporter in SL. I photograph people, events, art, everyday life, my adventures and my experiences, looking at the birth of a new world. We found the real world ready and we studied it for thousands of years to understand how it works. Now we are constructing a new world, we know every thing about how it works, we know each single pixel, each single bit, bud we don't know what the result will be.That's the reason why I take photographs in the Metaverse, to undestand how this all started.I take photographs in the net since 2003 as part of my project Internet Landscape. In 2005 I published "ARENAE", a b/w photoreportage from the wars on line, entering in the multiuser war game as an "embedded" photographer. now I am travelling in the Metaverse and I write for a couple of on line mag.
"I am wondering if my First Second Life is becoming my second real life", Marco Cadioli

Presentation of the book "Mondi virtuali" in Second Life

Next Friday, September 29, I will present in Second Life "Mondi virtuali", the book about virtual worlds that I wrote with Aurélien Pfeffer.
The book was published in April and it is a survey about this new social phaenomenon. It affords this theme from different points of view: economical, political, gaming-oriented, historical and sociological. There are many interviews, with Edward Castronova, TL Taylor, Wagner James Au, Mia Consalvo, Betsy Book, and the prefaction by JC Herz.
A quite new perspective in the book is the touristical one: in fact here we say that these worlds could become a new frontier for travels.
The presentation will be in Second Life, in the Parioli district (Parioli, 126,128,40), on Friday at noon SL time.

Society for Virtual Architecture in Second Life

On Thursday 21 September at 3pm SLT, I will talk at the Society for Virtual Architecture in Second Life (Warmouth, 204, 240, 46). I will explain the outlines of the Convention for the Protection of Virtual Architectural Heritage. I am very glad about that: it means that in virtual worlds keeps growing a real interest for digital architectures, and soon we will be able to define an in-world aesthetic, apt to describe new styles invented in video games and in synthetic worlds.

Kuurian Meetings - Episode 1

Yesterday in Second Life there was the first of the meetings I organized on behalf of the Kuurian Expeditions. Bruno Cerboni talked about his experience in Parioli. There were many people listening and many questions were asked. For this occasion, we also presented the new T-shirt for the Convention for the Protection of the Virtual Architectural Heritage, with the claim "Save the VAH!".
The next meeting will be with net reporter Marco Manray alias Marco Cadioli, the 2nd of October in Parioli.

Virtual italian style for the Kuurian Expeditions: meet Bruno Cerboni in Second Life!

It was with great pleasure that I've been designed as an european delegate for the Kuurian Expeditions in Second Life. Every two weeks I will organize meetings with people who are defining the mood of virtual worlds.
The first one will be with Bruno Cerboni, the founder of Parioli -a Second Life district entirely devoted to the italian style-, and president of Virtual Italian Parks.
Bruno Cerboni will talk on Monday 18 September in piazza Navona, Parioli, in front of the bar "Sempre amici" (Parioli, 126,128,40), at noon SL Time (9 PM italian time).
In this occasion every avatar will receive an exclusive T-shirt designed by Giuseppe Pini promoting the Convention for the Protection of Virtual Architectural Heritage.
